A Mouth That Gives Life

There are two kinds of mouths compared in Proverbs. There is the righteous mouth and the wicked mouth. The righteous mouth has words flowing out that are wise and kind and bring life to the hearer. The wicked mouth is harsh and hurts the one who is listening.

How do we get a righteous mouth that is wise and has life flowing from it? We gain wisdom from our walk with God, our life experiences, from having wise mentors, wise friends and from other sources of wisdom like godly podcasts and books.

It does not matter how pretty our hair, make-up or clothes are, it is the words that come out of our mouths that determine our true beauty. How would your friends and family describe the words that come out of your mouth? If you are struggling today, let’s be determined to practice self-control with our emotions. When we feel anger bubbling up, sarcasm spilling out or critical remarks being said, these are red flags that the heart needs tended to. Take your frustrations to the Lord and ask him for help to be more gracious, gentler, and a fountain of life to those around you.
