Light in the Darkness

Sometimes late at night, when I am struggling to sleep, I read a book on my Kindle. No matter how many times I’ve done it, as I open the e-reader, the light is always a bit startling at first. It isn’t a bright light, but it doesn’t have to be. Even just the soft glow of light has a way of illuminating the darkness. I don’t even realize how dark it is until the light shines.

No matter how old we are, there are times in our lives when the darkness feels vast and heavy, and just a soft glow of light would make such a difference. The truth is that God doesn’t leave us in our darkness. His light is there for us to see through it. When we are struggling to find our way in the middle of a hard season, we can trust that he is with us.

God gives us his Word, his promises, and his Son Jesus to light the way. We can stay close to him because, with him, we are never truly walking in darkness.
