When Weakness Becomes Strength

When my four kids were little, I felt like I was just doing my best to keep all the things together. One night I remember my son, Noah, dropping a small box of hard gumballs, and they all scattered across the hardwood floor, going this way and that. At that moment, I realized that my life felt a lot like those gumballs going everywhere. Whether it was a missing shoe, or we were running late to church, it seemed impossible to keep it all straight. I felt weak and wondered if I’d ever get it right.
Weakness isn’t celebrated in our culture. We want to be strong, and have it all together or at least appear that way. But in the Bible, we see that our weakness has a purpose. Like Paul, we all have something that we wish God would take away. But in our weakness, God can change us and teach us to rely on Him.
God isn’t waiting for us to have it all together. His glory shines brighter through our inadequacies and imperfections when we rely on His strength instead of our own. His power is made perfect in our weakness.
